I am free to be a character at age 76, which is to say free to create, make mistakes, act totally silly and can greet people without fear of rebuff.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. As someone in long-term recovery, I think that is one of the most important ways we express our gratitude. It is the 12th step, after all. Congratulations on the first year of a journey that may get rough but will always be rewarding.
